Hi Jaime,
I love chocolate and candy.. so I keep track of what is safe.
When I was on vacation in the USA I ate Rolos and Hershey bars (since here in Canada, Rolos are not safe and Hershey bars are not safe).
It is good that Hershey does make some safe chocolate in the USA, as Nestle USA and Mars/M&Ms USA and the other companies don't make any safe chocolate (with a few exceptions such as the delicious Vermont Nut Free chocolate, etc).
Enjoy the Rolos!
p.s. you should try ordering some chocolate from www.panhandlepremium.com (Canadian Aero, Kit Kat, Smarties, Coffee Crisp). I personally believe these products are much tastier than the Hershey bar or the Hershey Rolos

Erik:
We have ordered from PanHandle (great company). We tried the Smarties and Kit Kats. Next time I will get the Aero bars as one of the ladies I work with (native Canadian) raves about them. Do you know if the Hersheys bar and the Rolos are considered tree nut safe as well? My son is also allergic to almonds.
Thanks again for keeping up with all of this!
Jaime =)

Askosrose / Karen : I don't speak more than a few words of Swedish either, but I am picking them up as I talk to a Swedish friend over the 'net. Shamefully for me, both he & his (Swedish) wife speak PERFECT English, even down to colloquialisms!! HE also speaks German, French & Spanish... Nick, I give you so much credit for learning Swedish. I met my husband online, but he always typed in English, so I never had any motivation for learning.
I can speak the food really well though

Hi Jaime,
As I am in Canada, I know more about Canadian manufacturers as I can call them.
But from what I have seen, Hersheys will label for the presence of tree nuts. For example, I have seen Hershey products that have the label "manufactured in a facility that also processes almonds".
Hersheys seems to label very well. But I have never asked if the US Rolo is made in a tree nut free environment. I was just going by the fact that the label has no warning on it at all, while many other Hershey products do have warnings such as "manufactured in a facility that processes almonds", etc... To be sure you may want to contact Hershey USA or maybe someone else here on the board who has already contacted them can post their findings.
Enjoy the Rolos! You are lucky... here in Canada the Rolos are not safe as they are made by Nestle in a facility that also processes nuts.

Jana R- The chocolate would be great with marshmallows in it but I don't think it would work because it is pretty stiff and the marshmallows might get smashed during mixing...same for crispy rice. Raisins might work. Let me know if you try it!

I don't see Hershey's Kisses on the lists anywhere. My son has eaten them (in Canada) without any problems. But once again, I think our labelling is just so much more accurate -- we are lucky here!!! I know that if it is a major manufacturer like Hershey and it doesn't say "may contain," then I am confident it's safe.
