pMy son was 9 months old when I took him to the allergist. He was given a skin test on the back, but no other tests were given. I'm not scheduled to take him back until he is 21 months old. Do I have to request that levels be taken? He has only had one reaction that consisted of instant rash on his face, with sneezing and puffiness. I gave him Benadryl so he didn't need the Epipen by the time he we got to the hospital. I don't think he had any breathing problems, but I also know that the next reaction could be worse. Still it would be nice to know just how allergic he is to peanuts.br /
Thanks for any info.br /

my daughter had a blood test run just a few weeks after her first reaction. She was 13 months at the time. They ran a panel that included peanuts and several common food allergens. It definately gives you peace of mind, even when it is positive. Plus it gives you a baseline for future testing.

T. had his first skin test at 11 months old, right after his first reaction, then when he was 2 1/2 again for all other nuts, which was when we discovered the tree nut allergy.
Doc said to hold off on the environmental tests until he was at least 5. He is 7 this year and I still haven't done it, as his environmental allergies only seem to happen in the spring, it is pretty easy to narrow down and I don't want to put him through it just yet.
