I am new here and glad to find a place where others understand what my family goes through(even if it is online). I am a mother of 2 boys. They are 3 and 1 year old. The 3 year old has been diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy for almost 2 years now. My youngest just turned one and unfortunately is showing signs of a possible peanut allergy. I am taking him to be tested in a few weeks. I have weathered a lot of sleepless nights and ignored a lot of rude comments from uneducated family members. Two years ago, I would have never expected for this to become such a huge part of my everyday life. Now, it is the norm to always carry the orange backpack that contains the epi, check ingredients religiously, and constantly turn down treats from well-meaning friends and family. I have finally gotten to a point in which I feel that I do all that I can to protect my children. Now, I want to do all that I can to help all children. I think that there are still too many misconceptions out there about peanut allergies. I would like to get involved with educating my community about the seriuosness of this condition. Thanks to you all for this wonderful site. I have already learned a few things.
