Hi,
I'm Kelly. I was diagnosed with peanut and tree nut allergies last spring. I didn't take it seriously because the only reactions I ever had were itchiness. I avoided peanuts, but I didn't mind trace amounts etc.

Then a couple weeks ago I ate a candy bar, that I didn't realize had ground up peanuts in it and suddenly my heart was racing, I felt "funny," dizzy, and shaky. It was really scary. Now I have this huge lift style change and I am not sure how to deal with it. Having to ask about everything and simple things like not being able to eat samples anymore. I've learned quickly not to assume that peanuts aren't there. I feel like nothing is safe anymore. Every time I feel short of breath or my stomach hurts, I wonder... I fear.

So, this is why I have joined this forum. I am afraid. I sometimes look at something with peanuts/nuts in it and go, "wow, I'm only a foot away from death." I suppose you can say that about a lot of things..but most other things can't hide the way food products do. You aren't going to accidently pull a knife from a knife block and stab yourself.
