My daughter, Emily, was 4 lbs, 14 oz (born 3 wks early). All of the doctors and nurses at the hospital called her peanut! How's that for irony
She is still under the range for her age on the weight.
Both of my children were large, especially for me. My PA son was 8 lbs. 10 oz. and my non-PA daughter was 7 lbs. 15 oz. My daughter was born first.
Son, Chris (nonPA) - 7lbs. 4oz.
Daughter, Cayley (PA) - 7lbs. 15 oz.
Infant Daughter, Hannah - 10lbs. 3 1/2 oz. (I know...)
Cayley is now 3 1/2 and weighs only 28lbs.
Logan (PA) was 6 lbs. 1/2 oz. 3 weeks early.
Lauren (PA) was 6 lbs. 6.5 oz. one month early - they said if she'd gone to term she would have been a 10 pounder!

Wow! What a great response already! AnneK., my PA son is considered in the 40th percentile of his weight. So 60% of children his age weigh more than he does. However, there has been much discussion on the board about this (just not clear in what threads now) and I think I've fairly well figured out that my son is built like his very slender, slender waisted Father, and my daughter is built more like me, a bit more sturdy.
Cayley's Mom, I had always wanted to ask you how much Cayley weighed now. Jesse is 41 pounds and Ember, 21 months YOUNGER is 43 pounds. However, she is only 3 inches shorter than Jesse and I thought Jesse was doing fine height wise. He is certainly not short. I thought he was tall.
But, my soul, Em, she is very big for her age - 3-1/4 years old. She is definitely not fat, she is quite sturdy and muscular and definitely tall for her age also.
It's interesting to see how your children develop in different ways, isn't it? Yes, I found out when she had pink eye and they weighed her at emerg that she finally weighed more than Jess!
Again though, I really do think it just has to do with them taking after a parent. The weight at birth was just something my brain whirled up!
I'm actually going to check with another website that asks a monthly question connected to PA, they do a poll and ask them if it would be okay, if I gave them recognition, if I asked their question on this site. I found it very interesting. The only problem I have with asking any questions at all is that we really don't have anyone that comes in and draws any conclusions for us so we can actually see if a certain birth weight or premature birth or blood type might have contributed to PA.

Erin weighed 6 lbs., 4 oz. Now, at age 4, she only weighs 31 lbs. and is in th 15th percentile for weight and 5th for height. And yes, she too has often been called "Peanut" by others because of her size.

Stephen weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. (although they told me all along to expect 12-15 even the day he was born) He has stayed between the 20-25% for weight and 75-90% for length/height. (Currently @ 5 month somewhere between 14-15 pounds)
Evan (pa) weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. at birth.
Owen (non-pa) weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and was 3 1/2 weeks early.
Both of my children are small. Evan will be 4 the last day of March and he weighs 30 lbs. Owen just turned 20 months and he weighs 19 lbs.
Both my PA boys were born within a few days of their due date, and they were both the same weight, 9# 14oz. My husband and I are both tall, and both boys have consistently ranked 90-95% for height and weight.
Evan weighed 6 lbs, 1 oz and was four weeks early, he is consistantly off the charts because he is tiny, he currantly weighs 22 lbs at 24 months old.
