My 2 1/2 year old peanut and tree nut allergic daughter is going to be a flower girl for my aunt's wedding in August. I'm concerned about the food at the reception. My aunt has been so kind and has selected food that will not have any nuts or peanuts in it and the hotel that the reception is at has assured her that there won't be nuts in the kitchen. But I'm still nervous. And what about the cake? Keeping cake away from my daughter is impossible! Should I call up the hotel and bakery and check just like I would at a restaurant? Anyone else have any advice about wedding food?

Personally I would want to be more involved. A wedding is such a large event, so much food, so many guests. Accidents are bound to happen.
Why not bring your own food/cake for your daughter to be served by the staff there?
If not that--then I would definitely call and speak to who will be in charge of cooking, prep etc. that day. I've learned to never just take someones word for it.
I would want to talk to someone beforehand and the day of. But that's just me. :)

I think your daughter is definitely young enough that you can get away with bringing her food. I wouldn't let her eat the cake though, as the chances of it coming from a nut-free bakery are slim to none.
That said, weddings are *not* about all of us and our allergies, they are about the couple getting married, their union, etc. Your aunt has already done much more than most people will. Keep her in the good graces of her caterer and being courteous, gracious, and conscience of the fact that they are already doing a lot to accomodate your daughter. If you are going to bring her food, let the event manager know, and just ask if they can pop it in the fridge for you, or keep it warm for you.
