I've been looking for ribbon candy for DS (PA only) and found some with no warning at CVS: Sevigny's Thin Ribbon Candy.

I called the company, Washburn Candy, and was told that the candy is peanut free, dairy free and is Kosher as well. I asked about peanuts in the facility and were told there aren't any.

The person I spoke with was confident in her answers and told me more than I asked initially.

I think I'll let DS try some.

I was looking at these the other day, and very tempted. I remember loving the clove flavor years ago, when I was a kid and my Grandma gave me ribbon candy.

DS tried some of the cinnamon ribbon today and liked it.
I wish it weren't the thin kind, but I'm just thrilled he can have this candy that's so full of Xmas memories for me. He doesn't get much candy (don't see a point in all that sugar)--but I'm glad he can have this. I'm so glad I found some like this for him.

I called Washburn today & spoke to a Mr. Gibbs, who was very nice. Their number is 508-588-0820.
According to him, the ribbon candy is made on dedicated lines & still contains no peanuts or tree nuts.
The "Old-Fashioned Hard Candies" however, are made on the same lines where they "rarely" run peanuts. He said they take everything apart & boil it, but he did not recommend it if the allergy is severe, just to be safe. I had been hoping to use the hard candies for my son's gingerbread house project. Who knew gingerbread houses could be so stressful :-)

A local dept store carries Sevigny's ribbon candies and Washburn hard candies. They did have a hard candy shaped like small circus peanuts filled with peanut butter. Just an FYI.
