My PA dd is in first grade this year and so far so good. The only problem we are experiencing is that they use her classroom for the afterschool program. I explained to the teacher all the necessary concerns and she agreed it would be a good idea to try to get the room changed. There are 2 children in her class with PA.

The problem is that she has gotten no where with the principal about changing the room. She said that they check for peanuts with the after school kids and wipe down the tables. The teacher is concerned because she feels she doesn't have control over this. She has asked me to speak to the principal on behalf of my dd and the other PA boy.

I was wondering if there was something on these boards that said somewhere about not using the classroom for after school programs and if anyone else has had to deal with this. Is it required by law somewhere for the safety of the child to not use the room for that purpose? I want to have my facts straight and in order, including any documentation before I talk to the principal.

Thank you all for your help.

Thank you, Arlene! Your 504 plan for your dd is very helpful! I'm going to talk to our principal this week.
