UNDECLARED PEANUT PROTEIN IN NAMJAI BRAND YELLOW CURRY PASTE AND COCK BRAND YELLOW CURRY PASTE
OTTAWA, September 12, 2003 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers with allergies to peanut protein not to consume Namjai brand Yellow Curry Paste and Cock brand Yellow Curry Paste products described below as they may contain peanut protein that is not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who are allergic to peanuts.
The following products, imported from Thailand, are affected by this alert:

Namjai Yellow Curry Paste 50 g 8 850173 350134
Cock Yellow Curry Paste 400 g 0 84909 00235 8
The importers are voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. These products are known to have been distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba and may have been distributed nationally.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanut protein. [b]There has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of these products.[/b]
The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

This alert is of concern to those individuals who are allergic to peanuts.
All sizes of the following products, imported from Thailand, are affected by this alert:
1. Namjai brand, Yellow Curry Paste
2. Cock brand, Yellow Curry Paste
Only the Yellow Curry Paste is affected by this alert.
