Well, I'm not sure what to tell you. I have hashimoto's Thyroiditis but have no food allergies (but my son is PA). My sister's kids do not have thyroid disease (yet), but they do get swollen lips if a brazil nut touches them (they are not allergic to any other nuts). Both Thyroid disease and food allergies are hereditary for the most part so there may be some connection.
Do you know of a connection?

I was fascinated to find this thread. I developed a full-blown case of Grave's disease (hyperactive thyroid) while I was pregnant with my PA son. I had had some problems with hyeractive thyroid before I became pregant, but they always resolved without medical intervention. After Brian was born, I had to undergo radiation treatment to kill some of my thyroid, and now I'm on replacement to keep me stable. I have often wondered if the fact that I went through the entire pregnancy in a hyperthroid state has anything to do with his allergies or not. I'd welcome any info anyone has on this subject. Thanks, Kristi
Dear skanb,
thank you so much for responding to my question. i have hoshimoto's thyroiditis and PA. i was wondering if my allergies act up when my thyroid is high and vise versa. my allergist had suggested this and my endochronologist said he doesn't believe htis so i was just trying to get another opinion.i hope that your thyroid is under control now and that your son has no PA problems. THANKS AGAIN!

I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis as do many of the other women in my family. We also have other autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, minor asthma, and lupus floating around. However, no one has had any food allergies before my daughter who just had her first PA reaction last week. I am really wondering where the PA came from. I actually hate peanuts and did not eat them when pregnant or over the months of nursing her. Mightn't there be some autoimmunity issues at play with her PA?
