I'm also concerned about the m&m-like chocolate pieces in the trail mix. Since it requires pretty specialized equipment to make this type of candy (that's why Vermont Nut-free can't offer it), I'm wondering if the Sunbutter folks are absolutely certain that their chocolate bits are produced and packaged in a nut-free facility.

On retesting, just found out that my son is really NOT allergic to sunflower. It was likely a false psoitive because of his excema. I would like to try Sunbutter. Does anyone know where you can purchase it in the Greater Toronto Area? I have called to various health food and gourmet stores, (Ambrosia, Pusateri's, Whole Foods) with no luck.

I bought the sunbutter for my daughter and was so scared, but she had no reaction at all. Her only reaction was her spitting it out because she didnt like it...hehe....but I love it and bring it to work almost everyday!!

We have sunbutter in our home for my husband who used to be a die hard PB lover. My DS will not eat it, he thinks it is creepy. (because it looks like PB.)
I have used it in recipies and not told DS and he ate it no problem.
I do have reservations about PA kids eating it at school though. I just feel that it could cause confusion in others thinking it is PB and even kids questioning the vaility of the allergy.
Sunbutter is available in our local grocery store.

We just bought our first jar of sunbutter last night in our local grocery store.
TNA daughter and I ate some with celery, and we agree it is very tasty. She liked it, and I watched her carefully. No sign of a reaction.
She is not PA, but I sometimes feel paranoid about giving her peanut butter. It's nice to have an alternative.

I absolutely love SunButter, especially the crunchy varieties.
Unfortunately, the shipping costs are so incredibly high that I hardly ever buy it any more. I've tried buying it in quantity to try to being the per jar costs down, but even so, it's beyond my budget due to the shipping fees.

I emailed the Sunbutter company a couple of months ago, and asked if their product is available in Canadian stores. The very quick reply was 'no', it is available in Manitoba, I think, but not in the rest of Canada. Yet.
I bought a jar in Florida last winter, and we tried the sunflower, soy-nut and peabutter as a family.
Unfortunately, my PA DD likes the sunbutter best, and won't eat the others!
Everytime we or family goes to the States, the grocery stores are visited, looking for Sunbutter.
I didn't find any in the few stores I got to in San Diego last week, next try will be Reno/Carson City NV., then will have to wait for Florida at Christmas, or break down and order online.
I'm down to 2 jars left on the shelf. DD will eat it by the spoonful.

When you go to Reno or Carson City, go to Albertsons. It's a grocerey store that should be all over the place there. They carry Sunbutter....
