Does anyone know about sunflower oil? I see that it is used in alot of chips and I'm wondering if my peanut allergic son would have a reaction to it. Has anyone let their child eat any kind of chips?

I am peanut allergic and have eaten sunflower, canola, and olive oil for as long as I remember.
I can not think of any reason not to feed your child sunflower oil, although you could ask your allergist to see his opinion. As well, you could contact the manufacturer to ensure there are no peanut products produced along with the sunflower oil in the factory.
My son is peanut allergic & has eaten sunflower seeds & oil with no problems. I agree to check with your allergist, who knows your situation, if you are in doubt or worried about another allergy. I was really shocked to see sunflower oil in Gatorgade of all places! Josh has drank this with no problems.

I double checked to be sure. It is the last ingredient. We have the flavor "Fruit punch". Why this stuck in my memory--. My husband asked if I was sure Gatorade was OK, while my son was already drinking it. I, in my wisdom, replied, of course, there wouldn't be oil in Gatorade. I glanced just to be sure & about fainted when I saw the word "oil". Luckily, it was sunflower oil!!!! I guess you have to check & check!
