Strong America Has Rcalled "Huashengsu" Cookie Wafersbr /
Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that Strong America Ltd has recalled its packages of "Huashengsu" cookie wafers because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products./p
pThe recalled cookie wafers were distributed in the New York City area in retail stores. The product comes in a clear plastic bag with code 2001.11.03. All other labeling is in Chinese./p
pNo illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem./p
pThe recall was initiated after it was discovered through routine sampling by the N.Y.S Dept of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts./p
pConsumers who have purchased packages of cookie wafers are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-628-6200./p
