Hello everyone my name is Norma and I am new to this post. My 6 year old daughter has a peanut allergy and she will start 1 grade next year and that is scary. She was homeschooled for kinder so I did not have to worry about her being in danger.
I have been reading some of the post and just want to get familiar with what my rights are and how I can best keep her safe.
We live in Ca and attend LAUSD if anyone has info that would be great.
Thanks for all your help. Keeping our kids safe is the number 1 priority.

Hi and Welcome Norma!
Many of us have children in public and private schools. We have all had different experiences getting the accomodations our children need, some have had it easier than others. (I am one of the lucky ones.)
I don't know anything about the school system or the laws in your state - but a lot of the information you will find on this board in the school section and in particular following the 504 threads should help to get you started.
From there, post your specific questions and watch this board get into the action ! There are a lot of good people here with valuable info.

Thankyou Purplecat, it is very scary to realize that we have to let our kids be normal on there own. We just want to make sure that we are keeping them safe. I will look at the post, as it is I feel like I have already learned so much in just a few days of reading here. Once again thanks.
