I have a 3 year old son who is allergic to peanuts. So far so good, we have never had to deal with any sort of reaction. I have just recently bought a container of Soy Nut Butter, it looks just like peanut butter. It says peanut free all over the container, but I am fearul to introduce this product to my son due to the apperance of it. I am afraid that he wont be able to tell the difference between the two products. I guess I am asking if anyone out there has ever heard of Soy Nut Butter before? Is it a safe staple for peanut allergic kids? Is it too confussing for kids to tell the difference? The list of ingredients reads: Roasted Soybeans,Naturally Pressed Soy Bean Oil, Maltodextrin, Soy protein Isolate, Sucanat(Granulated Cane Juice), Salt, mono and Diglycerides(derived from vegetable oil). Do these ingredients sound safe to any of you peanut allergic parents? Please let me know, so I can make the right choice. Thanks and good luck to all!!!!

Treyphaon, There is a discussion taking place about this on the Peanut free businesses board under the heading "safe peanut butter substitute". The confusion factor was a major concern of mine also. Right now I'm just feeding it to the nonallergic child because she loves PB. She finds it to be an acceptable substitute.

I also feel that it may be confusing for a young child to eat aomething that is safe yets resembles something that is completely lethal to them. If anyone else feels differently or wants it for a non allergic child. I will suggest almond butter. I tasted it the other day ( that is what my children's school serves) it is delicious! It tastes too much like pn butter, it is scary!
