Does anyone know of a discussion list for parents homeschooling their food allergic kids? If not, would anyone be interested in starting an e-mail group with me? My son is toddler age but I need support now that all his friends are going to preschool. Please respond via e-mail: gravitybear@yahoo.com

Thanks, Jacqueline in MN

I'd be more than happy to be a part of such a group. There are some interesting challenges that come when you combine food allergies and homeschooling (mostly time management issues) -- and I would love to both share what we're learning, and what others have found that works for them.

Great idea, Jacqueline.

And here I was, thinking I was the only one homeschooling because of food allergies....

I would also love to join the group. We are homeschooling our son, 5 1/2, and next year will begin homeschooling our older son, 8 (no food allergies). So far, it is a very positive experience. It would be great to share strategies! Andrea

Oh me too, me too! We would be pre-school homeschooling, but I'd like to get started. My plan is to homeschool ds at least until he's mature enough to administer his own epi and avoid dangerous foods on his own. I've been looking for hs boards, but would like to find a group who understands our special challenges. (Like finding time to cook w/o wheat)

Could we start a Yahoo or an MSN group? Which format do the rest of you like best?

I'm so happy you all are interested!

I like the yahoo format, and am most familiar with it. Would a yahoo group work for everyone? Any cool name ideas?

I too am in the planning stages as my son is 2, but it seems to me that homeschooling really doesn't have a "start" age. You just continue on as you have been at home.

The group will be up on yahoo by Thursday evening. I have to deal with a labeling meeting and a jury summons notice the rest of the day.
