Freakin' idiots!
Is this in Canada or the US? Just asking, because I haven't seen that kind of labeling too commonly here in the US and I think the Canadians are smarter.

Hi Amy
We don't have Edy's ice cream available in Canada, so I think this must be an American product.

I was just thinking about how they'll probably argue that the peanut oil is refined, and therefore, safe. Unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.
I knew it Erik - you Canadians wouldn't let something like this happen!

Toll House is not safe regarding cross contamination anyone.

Hi, I spent some time trying to figure out the Toll House thing this week. They say that if there is no warning on the package, it is safe. Some plain are labeled, some aren't, depending which plant they were made it. Packaging in PA where SIL lives is totally different than where I live.
I posted the info in either the manufacturers or reactions thread.

Peanut are technically not nuts. They are legumes. Maybe by "Nut allergen free" they mean that it does not contain tree nuts.
This is a good example of why we always need to read the ingredients, no matter what else the label says.

Actually I called or emailed edy's in the past and they do not consider peanut oil to be an allergen.

If that were the case, then the peanut butter cup flavor would be "nut allergen free" as well since the only "nut" it has is peanut.
