I have been tossing around the idea of offering some expamles to my school of 504's for food allergies. But I don't know if it would do me more harm than good?? This will be our schools first food allergy 504 so I know they could use some info, but do you think it would hurt my case if I did?? I was going to email a link to
http://www.foodallergyadvocate.com/504Plan.htm
and then maybe give thema copy of a few(with info blacked out) of some from here....would that help give them an idea of what I am trying to get for my own son, or do you think it would be giving them too much information and they need to provide this stuff themselves?? I don't know??

Early on, we gave our school the outline you mentioned:

We told the school these were the types of issues we were concerned about and wanted addressed in the 504 plan. We did not give the school any example plans. Since we did not supply an actual plan, the school could not claim we "railroaded" them into an agreement.
The outline is much longer than our actual 504, so maybe the perception was that the school reduced their responsibility and they were happy to do so. We got everything we wanted in our 504, so we were satisfied.

Chris never had a 504 plan but the school was very appreciatieve of whatever I had to say and they would do.
also he was the first child in our entire school district with the allergy.
Things went pretty well with them working with us.
I certainly feel you should ask about your input involvment. they may learn alot from you. good luck Claire
