CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF SESAME SEEDS ARE SAFE? THANKS, KATHY ANN

They are not in the same family as peanuts or nuts, but it seems that a fair number of people allergic to peanuts/nuts are also allergic to sesame seeds. I have steered clear of them. I want to have my son tested for sesame, but have not done so yet.

My dd is PN, tree nut, and sesame allergic, though only has visibly reacted to PN. She has consumed pretzels with sesame seeds and crackers, prior to being tested, and seemed fine(I did have an instinct to watch her carefully even though I had no awareness of the related allergies). The allergist simply automatically tested her for a few allergens related to PN ones, and BINGO to the seeds and tree nuts. We now avoid sesame seeds in the ingredients of anything, even though she never reacted. They really hide in alot of places!! becca
