Hi - I'm new here. I had a scary incident yesterday. Gave my 13 month old son the lid from my empty peanut butter jar to play with and within 2 minutes his mouth, chin, neck were covered with hives, and his eyes and face got puffy.

I feel like an idiot. He has eczema, and our dr had told us he was more at risk for PA, but I didn't think it all the way through, the lid looked clean!

I dosed him up with Benedryl asap and within 30 minutes he was looking fine, but now that I've done a little research I realize I'm darn lucky it wasn't worse.

So, I'm new to this world. Just made an appt with a pediatric allergist, but won't get there til 2/4. Husband is out of town and is concerned, but thinks I'm overreacting when I not only make the specialist appt, but start looking into alternative therapies as well.

So, any advice for a newbie- I'd appreciate it!
