Lori's in San Francisco (it seems to be a popular chain there -- may also be elsewhere???) uses peanut oil in all their cooking.

I thought it worth posting this as Lori's seemed to us to be a popular, family friendly chain and in my experience, it is unusual to find this sort of restaurant using peanut oil for its cooking -- fortunately we told them about the PA before we were seated and they gave us the heads up on the peanut oil.

We also found one of the Italian restaurants we planned to go to cooked only with peanut oil, which again I thought was a bit unusual, so it pays to always check just in case I guess.

nzmum,
Thanks for sharing this information. Can I ask which Italian restaurant also mentioned to you that they use peanut oil?

The Italian restaurant that cooks exclusively with peanut allergy was in our hotel -- the Donatello Hotel at Union Square. Sorry I do not recall the name of the restaurant, other than that it started with a "Z" and was in our hotel.
In terms of positive experiences, we had two wonderful dinners at another Italian restaurant, called Finos, just off Union Square near Mason and Post. Excellent service, great food, elegant, reasonably priced and PA friendly.
