What does the warning say on the Sunmaid? Are these the ones in the individual red boxes? I just purchased some over the weekend and didn't notice a warning on them.

the sunmaid yogurt raisins have warning on them. its funny cuz my son use to like them sometimes and sometimes refuse them!!

[b]If you eat dried fruit read this. So, my son had soccer yesterday. After the game snacks are given out, and my husband saw what was given -- it's all okay right? Well a few minutes later DS comes up to DH with an empty package of Yogurt Covered Raisins. Yes, we are proud he asked about nuts, the parent said they were okay, etc., (DH should have been paying attention & not let him have them) -- anyway, DH hands me the packaging when he gets home -- tells me DS is okay, but maybe I should check it out -- there is something uncomfortable to him about it (Duh, right?!) So anyway, I email the company yesterday, and here is what I got back today:

Thank you for your inquiry on our Vanilla Yogurt Raisins. Long -standing and current dried fruit and nut industry practice allows for the rental of wooden bins during the off season for the commodities as market conditions and crop volumes mandate. Because of this, some of the wooden fruit bins can be used for tree nut storage and wooden nut bins can be used for fruit storage.

We do not intentionally introduce tree nut allergens into our dried fruits. There is a remote chance of allergen cross contamination because of potential prior exposure to tree nuts if stored in wooden bins that previously had also been used to store tree nuts.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or would like to discuss this situation further. Once again thank you for contacting us.

Sincerely, Doreen Swenor

I re-read this ---- the ramifications are huge in some respects. I am not sure how I'm going to feel next time I want to buy some raisins, or other fruit that previously I would have thought are safe. How about you? Any thoughts -- am I just paranoid?

I posted this, in October, on the Main Discussion board. The title of the thread was OMG!!!DRIED FRUIT. I'll try to figure out how to put the link for that thread here - if you'd like. Maybe I'll just bump it up.

never heard of mariania but moyer in hatfield has warnings on some products and none on others. well its all packaged in same facility with nuts so they are out too. if dole doesnt come thru, dont know what. maybe try making. too much trouble. i rather dip them in choc. myself!!

as far as plain dried fruit, I had gotten a good response from "Just Tomatoes" last year....I suppose you could always make the yogurt coating yourself (there are recipes online)

Dole is not safe either, the packaging does not reflect this but was told there is a risk of cross contact with nuts/peanuts when I called.Maybe someone has a recipe? They can't be that hard to make?

Good luck!

Thank you for your interest in DOLE products. DOLE Raisins are made in our factory, where there are no traces of nuts or seed ingredients. DOLE Pitted and Chopped Dates are made in a facility where trail mix is processed, therefore, there may be traces of nuts in that product, this is labeled as a caution on the package. We hope this information is helpful in answering your question. It's always a pleasure to assist our consumers. Sincerely, Dole Consumer Response Staff 0681100A / OD/cl I WILL BE POSTING A YOGURT RAISON RECIPE NEXT.

I would wonder if DOLE rents out their wooden crates in the off season like Mariani. Mariani didn't label for that - it would be interesting to see what DOLE would say.
