As many of you know we hardly ever go out to eat or take DS with us.

Today we were having a good day & decided to meet DH at Chili's for lunch.
They had Kraft dinner on the kids menu So we checked with the manager & he brought us the info sheet on it. Everything looked ok so we ordered that with Corn on the Cob & Choc milk. We informed them to be careful with his order.... It arrived within 5 mins & DS began eating....He had the kdinner & then the corn...(DH had also helped him blow his nose once/he has had a cold all week) A few mins later I noticed that his Face was getting blotchy & white hives were forming around his mouth/chin. We went to the washroom & washed well, took Benadryl & headed home. He is OK...the rash has faded around the mouth...but he has developed a heat rash type of rash on this chest....
I just gave him more Benadryl.
He seems fine otherwise.

What was it
I don't know if his food was contaminated, unknown allergy?, or perhaps dad's hands (he had shrimp), or airborn???

I am leaning towards egg! because of the way the rash developed & (he got a rash on the chest & the back/sholder area--which in the past is an egg reaction)

Well it has been an emotional day for me...

What are your child's allergies again?
When is the last time you had him tested for corn?

I'm sorry to hear about is so scary when the hives start coming out. My DD and the other 2 kids have eaten the exact meal you talked about...mac and cheese, corn on the cob (because fries are not safe due to cross contamination with shellfish), and chocoalte milk. My question would be about the butter/seasonings on the corn. Did you notice anything different about that? Also if he is allergic to shellfist, did your DH touch anything?
I'm sorry this happened to you!!

My son is allergic to Egg & Peanut.
He was last tested in Sept/Oct 2005.
I don't know about shellfish, but yes hubby had had shrimp. & did help him blow his little know (DS is 4yrs almost 5)
DS is getting over a cold (I guess I should have known better then to take him anywhere with that going on)
I am affaid is was the butter on the corn &
Applied with a contaminated brush? or the mac & cheese with unknown egg.
I hate not knowing....I which there was a way to do a swab & find out.
For everyone that has had a good experience with the mac & Cheese & corn. Can you please let me know what your kids allergies are?
My son loves corn & has it often.

I am sorry to hear about your son's reaction.
It is funny that you should post this because we never go out to restaurants that much either and last night we took our DD who is 5 to Chili's last night for the first time. (I was a nervous wreck!)
I hope he is feeling better today!

You have to be careful with restaurant pasta because they often reuse the boiling water to cook more pasta. If they cooked some pasta that had egg in it, and then used the same water to cook your son's pasta, it would be contaminated with egg. This happened to my kids before I figured out what was going on.
Mom to 6 1/2 yr old PA/TNA daughter and 3 yr old son who is allergic to eggs.

DD is allergic to peanuts, treenuts and shellfish. DS is allergic to tree nuts, chocolate, oats, and is sensitive therefore avoiding all citris fruits.
We have eaten Chili's numerous times with kids and have not had a problems. I liked the option of the boiling water being used for egg? Maybe that was what happened....
I am thankful that your child is ok..but that doesn't make you feel any better, i know!!

The Mac & Cheese was premade & the rest. only had to warm it. (I guess it still could have came contaminated to the rest.)
I just hate not knowing & facing an exposure
