Hiya, does anyone in Australia know if RASP testing can be done by any doctor (GP)and what is involved? Have my DD booked in to see leading specialist in October but I don't want to wait that long. Last year her skin reacted (dermagraphic) to the skin test so we left the specialist with no conclusive evidence on how she was rated in terms of seriousness? The specialist suggested that skin testing was more accurate and was going to continue on that path of testing rather than taking blood.

I feel frustrated and need to see if there was any improvement in terms of allergy over the last 2 years.

Thanks.

Hi Heather. My dd and I have never had blood tests done to confirm pa (to enable us to get Epi-pens on PBS-prescription benefit scheme), only skin prick tests. I've had pa all my (almost 44 yrs) life. Many many reactions before carrying Epi-pens and antihistamines. If you need to get formal diagnosis of PA (to get Epi-pens) it does have to be done by Allergy specialist. The doctor (1st time allergist rest of time GP) will give you an "Authority" prescription each time you need a new script. Hope this helps.

I had my son tested 10 years ago just through my local GP, who just sent us to a local pathology lab. We are currently living overseas so have had subsequent testing done at various doctors.
