My son was diagnosed with PA at age 20 months after a mild reaction to a snack that had peanut butter in it at daycare. Previously we had done a blood test, at 12 months of age, that was negative. The skin test at 20 months of age was positive for peanuts, scored a 4, and pecans, a 1. We have avoided all nuts and traces of nuts and there have been no issues or reactions. He is now 3.5 years old. We had the peanut protein component test done last week to assess for how severe a reaction would be and it came back completely negative!!! We cannot get in for further testing until October , but will continue as we have. But, I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what this could mean. Is he not allergic after all? Is he just mildly allergic? Any ideas welcome!
