question...504 accommodation

Author:

I am reworking a 504 draft, the food free version is SOOOO much easier then the peanut, tree nut, egg free draft. Nutternomore, I am using your draft from Mariah's 504(hope that is okay, let me know if not). But I ran across this accommodation....

" Parents will supply XXX

1 jar Soynut butter, 1 box crackers, canned Vienna sausages, fruit cups, NoNuttin' bars, plastic knives, spoons, bottled water, paper napkins, packet of wet wipes.

It ain't fancy, but it will keep them from starving. It's better than what the other kids get--some kind of emergency rations bar in a foil pouch + water.

Small plastic tubs of applesauce (Mott's Natural keeps well -- just watch expiration date).

Also Gerber babyfood fruits are good in an "emergency only" kit since they are light weight (the plastic box kind) & nutritious. Nobody's gonna see the babyfood except for teacher as these are emergency-only. Also include a couple of plastic spoons, forks in ziploc baggie.

Rold Gold pretzels, if not allergic to those (I know you're dealing with MFA.)

Label every package with your child's name.

(Can't remember what previous post had, sorry if repeating) -- Juice boxes, single serve water bottles.

Put a note on your calendar at home as reminder (on date in future, according to expiration dates on food) to check the emergency kit &/or re-stock.

Glad you had this question as it reminds me I need to revamp & set up hurricane emergency food & beverage kit for our household!

I'm guessing that the District Parent Liason is the parent who is the go-between person between school & parents' organization?

(I *think* that if you are using 504 for Mariah, you may be using Gail's, but maybe posted or linked or used as format also by Nutter?)

I`m in California also, so we do earthquake kits too. I would vote no on the Soy Nut butter. We ate it at home for years (until dd got braces), but had a disaster sending it to school in kindergarten. It looks exactly like peanut butter. If you really have an earthquake you really don`t know what adult your child will be with. It might not be the teacher. Lots of people see the jar and assume it is pb without reading the label. I even had a mom that I know well recently ask my why I keep pb in my house with dd allergic. She was looking at the jar of Soy Nut butter which was sitting out and did not see the label. Also, the title Soy Nut butter confuses people with the word "nut" in it. It does not have nuts, but people assume it does due to the name.

I thought it was Gail W, but then when I copied it I noticed nutternomore's name at the bottom, maybe she did post the link or something.....so I guess I need to make sure it's okay I use your draft Gail W??? Sorry about that!!!!

We don't have liason's...so maybe that one I would need to take out then? Thanks
