My allergist does not consider sunflowers as nuts, and I do not believe they are labeled as one. You should call your drs office and confirm with them if it is ok for you to give your daughter sunbutter. My Drs office has been very open to calls like this from me.

it *might* just be from the whole cross contamination thing.
my son is allergic to peanuts, fine with sunflower seeds. my daughter is allergic to sunflower seeds, not allergic to peanuts. (she's 23 months and has never been exposed to peanuts.)
we avoid both. :)
anyway, sunbutter is a great alternative to pb. and the brand name Sunbutter is from a peanut free facility.

My son happens to be one of those who is allergic to sunflower seeds.
Take care,
