I 2 boxes of Quaker Breakfast Bites, Iced Strawberry and Apple Crisp. On the OUTSIDE of the box containing 6 pouches reads: CONTAINS: WHEAT, SOY, MILK AND EGG INGREDIENTS.

However, when you read the ingredients on the individual pouches it states the above warning along with MAY CONTAIN TREE NUTS.

I spend all that time reading these damn labels and that's what happens!!?? It is perplexing...I put one in my PA only (also avoids TN) lunch today. He said, "Oh no, I ate that for snack today. This just reminds me that you can't be too careful.

I will call Quaker in the morning and post their reply.

i hate it when this happens too. why on earth even bother to put a warning on the outer label when the warning on the individual items inside is different??? makes no sense! i know to check that sort of thing but what about my husband, other relatives, my childrens' teachers, etc...???? so frustrating.

I have a box of the strawberry iced snack bites but I checked both the box and one of the bags and there is definately no warning for nuts on either one. We live in Maryland. It's possible that it depends on what part of the country you are in.

I am eager to hear what Quaker says. We eat these ALL the time. We are out of them presently so I can't check my box. I know I have in the past and have not seen the warning on the inside.

I just checked our box of the Apple Crisp, and there is definitely no warning on them.
We are in Texas.

I spoke to a rep named Laura today. 1-800-856-5781. Part of Quaker's computer system was down today so she only answered what she could with the consulting of her manager. She said that the Pouches inside the box are labeled wrong. The box is correct. I asked if that was true for all the different flavors and she said that they need to investigate it further. The apple crisp is ok. She would not give me a definitive answer on the Iced Strawberry.
I also mention that the webside also says May contain treenuts. They will address this too.
I also asked if they could/would put out a label notice of concern. She said that they would look into this again.
She asked me repeatedly if my son was ok. That really seemed to be her main concern.
I gave them my contact info and she said that it may take a few days to get to the bottom of this and they will call me back. I will post the response when I get it.

Laura said that it would not be before Tuesday 8/22 at the earliest. Apparently they need to check a few different areas, plants and packaging facilities etc...

I finally got a letter from Pepsico about the Quaker Breakfast Bites.
I do not have it in my computer so I will type out the pertinent information. If you want to see the whole letter please contact me via email.
2) If the best before date indicates BB as the plant that produces the Bites, the product may contain NO nuts. The package (outer box) will not call out nuts. The wrappers may be incorrect depending on the version. Formula version 9 may have incorrect wrappers.
3) If the best before date indicates MO as the plant that produced the Bites, the product may contain treenuts. The package (outer box) and wrappers should indicate "may contain treenuts."
4) All future production of Quaker Breakfast Bites will be at the MO plant and all flavors will have a "may contain treenuts" statement.
I just threw out my boxes. I had hoped these would be safe but o' well. They did however send me a coupon for "up to $4.00 off anyone product"

AUGHH!! Why do they go from no nuts to nuts? Seems like it should be the other way around the way nut allergies are in the news these days.
