Pop Tarts Adding Whey

As of October 2004, all Kelloggs Pop Tarts will contain a milk ingredient. They are adding whey to the brown sugar cinnamon and fruit flavors. This info is from a FAAN food allergy alert.

There goes one more product that DD enjoyed as a treat. Does anyone have a recipe for milk-, egg-, peanut- and tree nut-free fake pop tarts ?

I was just complaining to DH last night about Kelloggs actually adding a common allergen. One would hope that as companies become more allergy-aware, that they might try to make their products even safer, so as to gain more customers.

Instead Kelloggs has lost a huge market.

I don't have the current statistics, but I do know that milk allergy is much more common than PA.

Probably a lot of unhappy kids out there today!

We do not even have dairy allergy, but these were on sale this weekend for $0.99! I had this urge to grab a bunch for you guys! Funny, it was such an impulse to buy them while I could even though it was not me with the issue.

They have always been just fine. Why would they do this? I just do not get it. Maybe companies might be revamping recipies to try to lower trans fats? One would hope for a decent reason, perhaps. becca
