I just received my FAN newsletter for August-September and it states that Pepperidge Farm will be reintroducing peanuts in the Original variety of its Goldfish Snack Mix line of products. The front panel of the package is clearly flagged to reflect this change. The product will begin appearing in stores this fall. I am pretty upset about this. I am not sure if this was safe before but my son loved them and has never had a problem with them before. Just another thing I will have to tell him NO to now.

I can't believe that Peppridge Farms would do such a thing!!! My son just loves these little fish crackers. I feel like bombarding them with letters pleading them not to do it?
I agree! Why would they do such a thing? What possible difference could it make in the product, except that now we have to exclude yet another thing from our childrens' diet? My daughter recognizes these crackers as safe - now what? I'm going to find out if they have a website that I can respond to. Please everyone - do the same - we need to stand up for our kids. They need to have some of the same treats their friends do.
I couldn't find their website. If you find it, please post it. Thanks!
Sorry if this sounds silly,{I'm learning still}, But is the fish out now ok? And should we grab all that we can find now!!
I emailed a question regarding the addition of peanuts to Goldfish Crackers to the following website:

Try this site if you want, and I will let you know if I receive a reply to my email. Go to the sidebar labelled "Questions" to get to the email section.
Chasie - as far as I know the Goldfish that are out now are fine, but even if we stock up on them, they don't have an indefinite shelflife. We need to get the manufacturer to keep them peanut-free. I hope it's possible to do that.
I also told my son that we would buy him a few bags to keep for him. He loves them so much. This really makes me mad. I am going to try that link and I will let you know if I hear anything.
naomiR - i am not sure I understand what "reintroducing peanuts" means for Pepperidge Farm goldfish. Does that mean that the regular PF goldfish now will have a peanut ingredient in them? Or that they will now manufacturer a line of crackers with peanuts in them? Confused. If they don't put the "may contain" on the regular goldfish and there are no peanut ingredients in the goldfish..why can't we still buy them? Is it that we are afraid of cross contamination. I would appreciate the concen here. THanks.
I copied exactly what the newsletter stated. The crackers are fine right now and they will be labeling it to show the change on the front panel of the package. I was sort of confused at first too.
I just checked out the website that was listed (once I corrected for a typo in the URL) & followed the links down to this page: http://www.campbellsoup.com/OurBrands/GoldfishGrocery.cfm
It shows that Goldfish Cracker & Goldfish Snack Mix are 2 separate products. So, I assume (although I will be checking labels!) that this announcement has nothing to do with the crackers that we all love so much, just the snack mix.
Anne
To Anne and others - so sorry about the typo in the email address I provided. I can't believe I did that, but I guess I was pretty fired up about this thread and was typing faster than I was thinking. Won't happen again!
