Can anyone recommend a pedi-allergist in the Tampa, FL area? I've heard a few good things about a Dr. Klemawesch in St. Pete's, and a Dr. Lockey at USF. My 3 y.o. DS is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, egg & sesame. Also, is there a good pediatric gastroenterologist (DS has reflux) in that area? Willing to travel. Thanks.

We have been to the All Children's Hosptital Allergy and Immunology Department in St. Pete/Tampa and unfortunately was not impressed at all. Waiting room was a pit and had food everywhere and the Dr's were acceptable but I knew more and some of their comments could have ended up with us in the ER if I had listened to them. Literally, they said to me "don't starve your daughter, go ahead and try all the foods and no she couldn't be allergic to rice"..... Well, she is allergic to rice AND wheat, egg, barlay, oats and we avoid peanuts, nuts, shellfish, fish and kiwi. So, although we have been to the hospital for other reasons and it has been positive I would not recommend them. We stick to Dr. Bloom in Sarasota and Dr Roger Danzinger in Bradenton. I have read that there is an allergist in Sarasota with a son that has PA but I haven't been able to find it again in my notes. On a good note, Sarasota has some great and well known alternative medicine practitioners and although I would never risk any testing with regards to PA we have had luck with my 2 year old and have "gotten back" pineapple, melon, quinoa, amaranth, corn and soy. The corn and soy I am so thankful for because those are tough ones too.

Hi We do like our allergist in Bradenton, Fl a lot but I am always open to a new Dr that knows more about kids and food allergies. Can you give me a few more specifics about why she is so good. Thanks
