My ds wasn't with me for this little incident, or else I'm sure it wouldn't have happened...
My father who's 78, had surgery this week and he's fine. Because of the time of the surgery, he couldn't eat anything beforehand, and his first snack was at 5:00. They bring him crackers. He asks for what? PB! I didn't think my parents eat pb, turns out he hasn't had it in years.
Now after my initial WHAT? I realize of course there's no reason he can't eat it, DS isn't around, my dad's not going to see him for a few days, and the poor guy's starving.
Well, both my parents are slipping mentally, and while we talk about ds' allergies, I'm never sure how much sinks in. Well, my mother lets loose on my father about how he shouldn't eat it, they get into a fight (where others can definitely hear them) to the point where a nurse comes in to referee
Turns out the nurse's boyfriend is anaphylactic to all nuts, and she's had to give him the epipen in a restaurant. She too sees no problem whey he can't eat it, and is giving me the are you one of those crazy mother looks.
With that I turn to the nurse and tell her let's speed up releasing him, he's obviously hungry. And with that we go home.
And here I thought I'd have a day free from anything peanut. Meg
