They make Coffee Crisp beans and Coffee Crisp Valentine hearts in other facilities.
But the Coffee Crisp mini bars are only made in the nut-free/peanut-free facility so it's difficult to think of how any peanut contamination could occur (if there was any peanut contamination - we still don't know the details as Nestle says they are currently investigating).
Until I know the details I won't pass judgement.. everyone was upset about the finger in the Wendy's chili, but in the end it was shown that Wendy's was not guilty at all.

I think you might appreciate knowing the details of what happened.
A woman ate the Nestle mini choc. bar. Then she kissed her daughter. The daughter (pa) had a reaction. That's why I'm wondering if Nestle might be making the recall before getting positive results.
I do think the mom made the right choice to report the reaction. She truly believes it had to be the chocolate bar. But, I still have doubts if it was.

Would Nestle make the recall before any tests came back positive for peanut protein?

I think they would absolutely make the recall before doing tests. It probably takes a few days to get testing done-they wouldn't want to take even the tiniest chance that it was the bar, and have people reacting in the meantime. I'm sure they announce the recall right away after someone has a 'possible' reaction.

The woman that called the CFIA about her daughter's reaction says that this morning she was called by the CFIA and told that the two coffee crisp (mini) bars they picked up from her both had peanut protein. The other bars in the package did not.

I think Nestle should have the information easy to see on their web-site - not hidden away. (I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed.)
I also want to know HOW.

I agree with you erik. I won't be passing judgement on Nestle until I know the details.

I am now convinced contamination did occur. However, I want to hear HOW. And, I am not writing this company off.

Wow.
teacher, you made a good point about why I should tell my son, thank-you.
I think, for me, this reiterates how important it is to have something sent to be tested after a reaction. I mean, I know Jesse reacted to Kraft Boca Burgers, but Kraft says that they couldn't have been PA contaminated and yet, I know it wasn't anything else but PA (not a new allergy), so very very important to make sure that if a reaction occurs (and we've had three now that shouldn't have happened really), to have the product tested - for a couple of reasons I think. To make sure that your assumption is correct in that you/your child is reacting to whatever and also so that a recall can be done to protect others.
But still a really big wow about Nestle.

I got this reply to an email I sent Nestle earlier this week RE the Coffee Crisp recall. It just basically repeats the information in the two alerts I recieved from Anaphylaxis Canada, but in case anyone is interested here it is...
Thank you for your e-mail about our recall of one batch of COFFEE CRISP SNACK
SIZE BARS (with the affected code - beginning with 5180 followed by a series of
numbers and letters found on the bar package under the fold).

this is a horrible thought, and scary, but after reading their letter (above this post), and the incident seemed so isolated...wouldn't it be absolutely horrible if an employee in the production line purposely contaminated a batch? (I think I watch too much CSI) Elsewhere someone stated that peanut protein was found in her uneaten candy.
Phew...anyhoot...scary...
