Thank you all for your 'resounding no' response. In all seriousness, we needed to hear from others who could relate to our situation. We notified the doctors today of our decision not to participate. This is what I wrote to them:
" We have been wrestling with what to do about our girls and your study. After research on our part, conversations with our parents and our pediatrician, and prayer, we have decided to not participate in the study at this time. While we support wholeheartedly what you and Dr. are doing, we are not able to subject our children to the potential risks that are involved at this time. The severity of their peanut allergy has been such that we have avoided peanuts at all costs and to think we would be giving them the peanut protein, is very scary. In addition, to think they would be the first participants with as severe as allergies as they have, I feel teeters on negligence on my part as a parent. We are not ruling out the potential of participating at a later date, but at this time we are not ready."
Thank you for taking the time to respond. We have never used this site before and now we will.
