ALL of the gobs of pasta and parm/romano cheese that I have are made in Italy.

Are there safe brands of either of these that someone can reccomend?

Honestly....I *think* since parm cheese is so regulated in Italy that it would be safe but the pasta kinda scares me.

Thoughts?

i use the stupid kraft cheese now but i feel comfortable with it. my PA son calls it stinky cheese. we use barilla, san giorgio, muellers. i think dececco is safe too.

We've been using Price pasta. They have an allergen statement on the box. We did use Barilla too, unfortunately, when I contacted them they informed me that manufacturing plant had nut ingredients in it and they couldn't guarantee there would be no cross contamination with the pasta. Maybe something has changed. Definitely worth contacting Barilla back for clarification.

If you are dealing with an egg allergy too be careful with pasta. A lot of pasta is run on machines that use egg in other pasta products. The manufacturers are starting to put that statement on their pasta products. Watch out for mac and cheese too. Annie's Organic mac and cheese is on egg equipment, for example.

i was happy with barillas response. my friend uses it again because they clean the machines. her son is egg allergic and does well on all the pastas i mentioned.
