She is 4 right now and in a wonderful school on the central coast but we are moving back to OC and I was hoping to find info on any grade and any school. I did find a Catholic School called Serra Catholic School
23652 Antonio Parkway
Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92692
I asked about their policy and they responded with this....
Dear Dana Genova,
Thank you so much for your e-mail. We do have quite a few students here at Serra Catholic School who have severe peanut allergies. We ask our parents to let us know when they fill out their registration materials to tell us if thier child has an allergy or medical condition. We give our staff a list at the beginning of each year a list of students who have allergies and medical conditions they need to be alerted to. We have a "peanut free table" for the students to eat snacks and lunches outside. When we have to eat inside they eat with all the other peanut allergy students with the teacher aide in the copy room. The other students eat in the classroom and the desks are cleaned when they are finished to prevent any residue from a peanut product. At the beginning of each year, the parent of the peanut allergy child and the teacher meet and a letter is sent to the other parents in the classroom informing them of the child's allergy. We have found tha we can not guarantee that our parents will remember not to send peanuts or foods with or made with peanuts to school so we impliment the safe guards. We ask that the parents avoid peanut products if they bring in items for parties etc.....If the child's allergy is very severe and they need an Epi-pen we ask parents to bring one for us to keep in the Health Room and also in the classroom in a secure place. All of our staff are required to be CPR and First Aid trained every two years. and they are trained in the use of an Epi-pen. our hot lunch company does not use any peanuts or peanut products in thier food. I hope that answers your question. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Carol Reiss
Assistant Principal, Student Services
