We have 4 children; one each from first marriages and 2 together. Our two youngest girls, the two my husband and I had together, are allergic to peanuts. The first two children have no food allergies at all. My husband is allergic to some tree nuts and was possibly allergic to peanuts as a child (he was never tested). He says he outgrew the peanut allergy, which from what I know is very rare. I'm not sure if he ever was allergic to peanuts or not. So..the connection could be there. (He also had very "bad" skin as a child which is also sometimes associated with peanut/nut allergies, I believe. And, he had some problems with asthma during one period in his life which is also associated in some way with these allergies.) So...it is likely that the girls have peanut allergy due to some genetic connection passed on by him. However, I believe the peanut allergy may also be, at least in part, due to the huge amounts of peanut butter I consumed during pregnancy (with the first of the two peanut allergic children). I was diabetic in that pregnancy and peanut butter was one of the only sources of protein I liked that I could eat. I ate it every day during at least two meals. It is pure speculation on my part but I think the large amounts of peanut protein in my body could have caused the baby's body to recognize some component of peanuts (protein?) as something to attack, if that makes any sense. Since the next baby also developed peanut allergy, even though no peanuts were in my diet during that pregnancy, I suppose there is the possibility that I still somehow passed on the problem to the next baby. I don't understand how that might have worked. Anyway...hope that information helps. The girls either recieved the tendency to be allergic to peanuts from their dad genetically or from me as a result of my diet or a combination of both things. Joey

Why not post your survey here so people can do a cut/paste, complete it, and email it if they'd like.

Thanks for posting the survey. I'll post my answer here because I hate giving out my email address, then I end up getting too much junk mail and with possible virus attachments.
