You're right, Miriam. It is sad that the term 'nazi' has become so common that so many people barely notice it's usage anymore. I am very sorry that I was one of them. That was a lapse in thinking, and I hope you'll forgive me.

Exactly how many countries did Nazi Germany occupy?

Not for a historical perspective, but just a good movie: "Captain Corelli's Mandolin"
My father lost both his parents as a direct result of Nazi Germany occupation of Greece. However, the term does not offend me. JMHO

Was I the first here to mention that the use of the term did not bother me?
I also "qualified" my statement. Did you check out the links? I guess Nazi Germany's actions affected a large portion of the world, many races, many religions. I believe I have just as much a reason to be upset over the term, but am not. I similarly, lost family to Nazi Germany's actions. Is my loss any less? I WOULD be upset if anyone used a racial ephitet in a derrogatory manner, though. I don't believe the use of the word was malicious. I think someone of German decent might take it's use to be malicious. I guess that is my point.

It really would depend on the situation and how it is said. My skin is pretty thick though.[/b]

I think it would be easy for all of us to agree to not use words that others might find uncomfortable.
Now that we all know the word is distressing lets just stop using it and maybe we could also stop any further discussion which could get hurtful.

I guess I could mention AGAIN how hurtful I find terms like "Nurse from He!!" and "Evil Nurse", but I won't.

Mommabear you know you are talking about apples and oranges here. Two very different things. Why continue this?

So, if something hurts me, it's not important? AM I STILL THE ONLY ONE WHO MENTIONED THE USE OF THE TERM DIDN'T BOTHER ME?
