While driving into Toronto, imagine my surprise to see a bakery that had a big sign advertising "NUT FREE"br /
Being exhausted from 4 days of travelling, I didn't think to take down the address or name but once I came to my senses, I was determined to find it .....br /
Today!! SUCCESS!!!!br /
Gawd I could not believe it and must have asked the woman there about 10 times to reassure me that everything is nut free.....br /
Well 40$ later, I walked out carrying cakes, breads, rolls, and sundry other things.....eating a cookie ....an actual store bought nut free cookie!!!!!br /
The name (for those in or around the area) is Richman's Bakerybr /
4119 Bathurst Streetbr /
416-636-9710br /
They are opened until 9 pm most nights but are not opened on Friday night, or Saturday. /p

Thank you so much for letting us know about this nut free bakery. I have tried to find a nut free bakery for almost 3 years. I will definitely give them a try.
WOW, I'm going to check it out immediately!
Do they do birthday cakes etc? If they do, they'll be getting lots of business from many many family members!
Thanks for posting.
Thanks Sharon!
I wonder if they do mail order? Maybe I'll call them and find out. If not, it may just be worth a trip to Toronto to check them out!

Isn't this fantastic! I can't believe I haven't heard of them before.Thank you for passing this one on, I'll be sure to pay them a visit. I would still feel safer baking my own cakes and stuff, but it will be nice to know in a pinch.
Hi
Amy if you want I will give them a call to find out for you and to find out if they know of one in Long Island. They may have that information. I asked them if I could post their information on the boards so I think they would be very excited to hear of the response.
Redtruck, I saw examples of all kinds of specialty cakes there. I am sure that they make birthday cakes as well.
Torontosue, I know how you feel but after being there and talking to them, I feel very comfortable with their products.
Once again I have to say that they were most helpful. Because they are a kosher bakery I suspect that most of their baking is milk free also (so that they can be eaten with both dairy and meat).

Here's another one:
Ammmazing Donuts
3772 Bathurst Street
North York, Ontario
Tel. (416)398-9119
We read about them in the Anaphylaxis Network newsletter and make a point of going whenever we're in Toronto. They have cake, cookies, muffins, as well as donuts.
Thanks for the information about Richman's. TWO nut-free bakeries in Toronto - life is good!
Sharon, that would be great! If they want to move into the 21st century, they should get a website! They'd probably have more business than they know what to do with!

reraising....
I have family members in Toronto and every time I go there, we stock up on tons of stuff from the bakery. And when relatives come to the states, they always know to bring goodies for me. I have never been to the donut place, since they were closed when I was there last.
But now that it looks like Pastry Land N' More in Brookline, Mass. is gone, I was wondering if anyone knows if the places in Toronto ship their products?
