pHi,br /
I just found this site today. I'm 27 years old and have been alergic to peanuts my entire life. I had a few close calls when I was younger (the last was 15 years ago), but I am constantly aware of what I'm eating. /p
pI'm sure I'm not alone when I discuss problems of eating Thai or Indian food, also friends find it hard to understand how I've surrived without PBJ's, Snickers, and Rocky Road Icecream. /p
pMy main interest in regards to the allergy is changing perception. As a baseball fan, I'm frustrated that they sell peanuts and cracker jack at ball parks (not to mention their inclusion in the song "Take Me Out To The Ball Game") but not sunflower seeds or carmel corn. I've also followed the Airline debates and am interested in future legislation about the allergy and related research. /p
pIn addition to the peanut allergy, I was also mildly allergic to eggs, which I have since outgrown. I've noticed that other members also have the combination of peanut and egg allergies. What, if any, is the connection?/p
pAnyway, thanks for the time.br /

Hi, California Ben,
Welcome to the board. There are lots of other adults with PA on the board. I am the mother of a nine year old son who is PA and has outgrown allergies to eggs, dairy, and strawberries. I think the connection is just a tendency towards allergies. Most people with allergies tend to have more than one. My son is also allergic to dust mites and to shellfish.
Welcome, Sophie - I'm so glad you found this site. I'm sure you'll find a lot of great support here.
Take care, Miriam
Hi Sophie,
Yes.. there is a lot here. The "search" feature is very useful. Lots of people here have a lot of experience dealing with this allergy so if you have any questions be sure to post them. Welcome
Welcome Sophie.
I hope you find the answers to all your questions here. If you don't, just ask away - chances are someone will be able to help.
See you on the board,
Amy
Hi Everybody! Thanks for your nice welcomes. I can't believe all the information here. What a great site!
Welcome Moxymom!
Check out the Schools forum. You'll find some info on school presentations there. Also check out FAAN's website. They may have some suggestions there.
Hope you enjoy this site.
Amy
Welcome moxymom! This site is full of fellow Canadians and Ontarians. (Me being one too.) It's also full of some of the most up to date and cutting edge information regarding peanut allergies. I've seen evidence appearing in the anecdotal information here being confirmed by the medical community 2 years later.
Welcome, moxymom. I agree with the others that you will get lots of great information here. It's also a really great supportive place to come chat, air your problems, or get some advice. I hope to see a lot of you here! Good luck with the school stuff. Miriam
Hello moxymom
As river said, there are lots of Canadians here (I myself am in Ottawa).
For presentation resources you may also want to check out the calgary allergy network site - www.calgaryallergy.ca
They have lots of articles and resources that can be used as resources. Another good site is www.anaphylaxis.ca by Anaphylaxis Canada.
take care and welcome.
