Hi, I'm new here. I didn't know about this site until recently. My 7 year old is PA as well as has allergies to chocolate and strawberries. We first found out when he was just under two and had eaten a ton of those miniature reeses peanut butter cups he started breaking out with hives. He looked like he had both chiken pox and measles at the same time. the doctor said he overdosed his body and it couldn't deal with that much concentrated peanut oil at once. Since then we have had about 10-15 minor outbreaks of hives mainly from crosscontamination. But last school year we forgot to remind his teacher to talk to the student teacher about his allergies. So the student teacher was eating peanut butter for breakfast and lunch and being around Axel, his allergies were so bad that he had to go on a steroid based nasal spray and we now have an epi-pen. His teacher is great and so are the students/parents in his class. We try to not make his allergies the focus of our lives but it has to sometimes and it sure makes going out to eat and vacations an adventure. sorry this is so long I look forward to being part of this board.

Welcome to the board! Hopefully you will learn a lot from all of us. It sounds like you've been dealing with this allergy for awhile so maybe we'll all learn a thing or two from you. Take care! Deanna
