I have been posting on this board for awhile now. My daughter is tree nut allergic but I felt I had so much in common with everyone here that even though we didn't deal with PA I felt we "belonged" at this site.

Well now we really belong. My daughter saw the allergist today and he confirmed my suspicions of PA. My daughter has always avoided peanut butter and obvious peanut things but I always contributed that to the similarities of tree nuts. The last couple of weeks she developed a rash on her face, some splochiness, minor facial swelling and facial itchness and a cough. We finally put two and two together and realized it was the reeses peanut butter eggs the Easter bunny had brought her. We took away the remaining eggs and all symptoms disappeared almost overnight.

Looking back over her file with the allergist she was never tested for peanuts. He said that maybe she has always been allergic but she ate anything with PB so infrequently we didn't notice the reaction. Maybe because she was eating so many lately is why we noticed.
I feel like we were really lucky esp. with the history of severe reactions in regards to tree nuts.

So now I am going to go back and re-read the boards from a different perspective. I don't think it will change our lives too much since we basically avoided peanuts already. My daughter had an interesting reaction to the news. She said "cool, now I can get a new allergy braclet". I guess that is a healthy attitude.
