I contacted Nestle in the UK, because I found a candy store in local mall that imports candy. Nestles reply was that Smarties, Aero & Kit Kat that are manufacured in the UK are made in a peanut-free facility, YEAH. Hope this will help some of you out.

Yes.. Aero mint and Kit Kat chunky are both imported into Canada from England, and they are made in nut-free factories in England.
Of course, Nestle Canada also has a peanut-free/nut-free factory in Toronto that makes Aero, Coffee Crisp, Kit Kat, Smarties and Mirage bars. They are all 100% nut-free.
It is too bad that Nestle USA bars (ie: Crunch) are made in nut-filled factories, so I can only eat Nestle UK and Nestle Canada.. Nestle USA is not safe Let's hope someday they will make one of their factories nut-free.

My sister just brought back Kit Kat chunkys and Smarties from Canada(in a long tube with pooh bear on top) for my son. Does anyone know if these are safe?

Kit Kat Chunky is safe but I don't know about the Smarties tube. Check the labelling carefully and if there's no warning, it should be safe. If it's made at the North York facility it's safe, because that's the peanut/nut-free location.

As Cayley's Mom said, the "Kit Kat Chunky" from Canada (and from Nestle UK) is safe.
As for the Smarties in a tube, I believe this is from Nestle UK (I have eaten these too). Nestle Canada does not make Smarties in tubes. In England, Nestle UK makes Smarties in tubes, and I have seen these available in some specialty candy shops in Toronto too.
The Nestle UK Smarties in tubes are safe too. But be sure to check the label. If it says "Nestle Canada" or "Nestle UK" and there is no nut warning on the packaging, it is safe. Always check for a nut warning just in case, as some seasonal Smarties products will have a peanut/nut warning on them.
However, if the Smarties tube says some other country (ie: Nestle Germany, Nestle Switzerland, etc) I would not eat it. I would only trust "Nestle Canada" or "Nestle UK".

Thanks-I have not seen the actual products yet so I am not sure how they are labeled. My sister said there was something about Switzerland on the Kit Kats so I will be sure not to let my son have them if that is the case. Thanks again.

Hi Jaime....
Something about Switzerland on the Kit Kat Chunkys? And they were bought in Canada? That is quite bizarre.
Anyway, even if it did say Nestle Switzerland, it still may be okay. As far as I know, Kit Kat Chunky is only made in the UK. Even the ones in Canada are made in the UK and imported to Canada by Nestle Canada (unless this has changed recently).
So if it says "Imported by Nestle Switzerland. Manufactured in the UK" then you would know it is safe. As long as it is manufactured in the UK.
It will be interesting when you receive these products. Let us know what the label says. I know Nestle Germany makes "unsafe" regular Kit Kat bars.... but as far as I know, all of the Kit Kat Chunky bars are made by Nestle UK in a nut free factory and exported to other countries.
I guess we'll find out when you see the label.
Have a good evening.

You are awesome when it comes to this stuff Erik!
I will probably pick the candy up today or tomorrow and will post back about it then.
Thanks!

I think the Kit Kat Chunky is fine. The "Switzerland" on the label probably just refers to the fact that it is Nestle's head office (ie: "Kit Kat is a registered trademark of Nestle SA of Vevey Switzerland").
But the bar would be manufactured by Nestle Canada/Nestle UK.
Have a great day!

I had the same question but Nestle UK told me as long as it says "York" on the pacakge, it was made in their York facility which is peanut/tree nut free.
