My son is 18 mos. and PA. (One mild reaction and definite skin prick test). I am not happy with my current allergist who seems to not only downplay anything I ask him but has also scared me by telling me about a PA related death in the area (a 4 yr. old). I would like to find someone who is more familiar with this allergy and is a little more compassionate. Do any of you have any suggestions as to how I might find one? (Where to call etc.)? I'm just wondering if this site or another keeps a list of PA allergists.

Where do you live?
We live in North central Texas
Hi! We live in Denton and see Dr. Hudelson in Flower Mound. Who are you currently going to?
Are you anywhere near Midland? That is where our allergist is. It's probably too far for you though.
Thanks you guys!! Midland is a little far but I could do Flower Mound. Is he very peanut friendly? What has been your experience with him?
We're in North Central Texas too! lol We haven't even been referred to an allergist yet, but when I asked the receptionist at the ped's office which one she used, she said she thought she used Dr. Wynn at Cook Children's. Since this is also the health plan we are on, I figure Dr. Wynn is surely who we will end up with. Anybody know anything about her or where I can go to find out if she is PA aware??
Hi! Dr. Hudelson is wonderful with us. She didn't spend just a whole lot of time with us on the PA issue because I'm PA and didn't need much info. She has been great with all of Logan's allergies and is always interested in what I have to say, ideas I have, questions I need answered, etc. She spent over an hour with us on our first visit. She also wrote letters for us for Logan's school and for my MIL stressing the importance of keeping him as allergen free as possible. She has always been so supportive of anything I wanted done for Logan.

I think Dr. Wynn is in the same group as the guy I have been to. I don't know anything about her and will be very interested to see how your appointment goes. Do you go to Cooks or somewhere else for the appt?
I'm not sure. lol I do know she takes Cook Children's Health Insurance though. We have an appt with the new ped on the 16th, and should get referred from there. I'd like to think we will get in before Thanksgiving, but somehow I think that is only going to happen in my dreams. *sigh* I'll definently post and let you know how things go once we finally get in, though! =)
