My son (PA) has eaten mulberries off of my sisters tree for the past few years. This year he and his cousins decided to use the juice as face paint and he came in covered in hives everywhere the juice was. Most recently he was eating an apple and said the roof of his mouth hurt and stopped eating it. A couple of minutes later he had hives all around his mouth. He has always had a problem with apple juice giving him diarrha could this be related? I am so perplexed! He was allergic to milk until he was about 21/2 and broke out in hives all the time but since has not had a problem except for an encounter with peanuts at Easter. He is starting kindergarten on Tuesday and I am so worried.

You might want to consider looking in to Oral Allergy Syndrome. If you do a search of the bpards, there are a couple of links to some good information.
I'd look it up for you but oldest DD is a computer hog and want's back on MSN.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I looked it up quickly and it seems like that could be the problem. I will be talking to his allergist.

I have oral allergy syndrome to apples (and other fruits). It's really weird, because I am reacting to specific types of apples, McIntosh and Granny Smith being the worst. I can eat Lobos though and have no problem once the apples are cooked.
Weird.
