Love My C: The FAAN website (foodallergy.org) has a list of other names for soy that is pretty helpful. My ds does react very badly to the oil, so we avoid it all. High-protein usually means soy or some kind of nut. If you are wheat allergic there are several cookbooks that focus on eliminating wheat- I'm trying The Allergy Self-Help Cookbook, by Marjorie Jones, and the Complete Food Allergy Cookbook by Marilyn Gioannini right now. I think they might be a little complicated if you are new to cooking though. FAAN also sells a cookbook that has a few wheat-free recipes in it and a chart at the front telling you how to substitute other flours for wheat. DS is still on elemental formula- I'll let you know if I ever successfully cook anything. LOL

Momjd,
Thanks for directing me to FAAN. My son, 3 1/2 yrs., is not wheat allergic but is PA, lactose intolerant, and I suspect has something going on with soy. I am just not sure to what degree with the soy. I guess I'm going to have to break down and get a ... a ... cookbook! AAHH! He was on that yummy Nutramagin formula for forever! YUK!
May God bless us all in our kitchens!
