The gist of it is:

"How fun is playing the Mass State Lottery? More fun than a date..."

cut to sounds of dining room

He: "How is your trout almondine?"
She: "This has nuts in it..(starting to struggle to breathe)...I'm allergic to nuts!
He: "Oh and your face is swelling up"

Ugh!! Disappointing a state agency would do something like this.

Their Braintree # is 781-849-5555

Exactly. Why would that be funny at all? To anyone?
Last night on Desperate Housewives they had one of the women out on a "bad date" and interestingly enough, they didn't mention FA's in it. There were other offensive things that happened to her that really turned her off the guy but they were made to be clearly offensive.
To me, having a date with someone with a food allergy wouldn't be a "bad date".
No, it's not funny at all.
Best wishes!

I was really discusted by this... I just sent off several e mails and made sure to include a link to the memorial site on this website ....I want them to look at the faces of those kids that have died from food allergy reactions and know just how their families must feel to hear such an ad...it really is sickening. jen

I'm posting letters too. I suggest also writing to the Boston station 106.7, the station that aired the commercial. When I have time, I'll post their link.

There is an ad playing right now for Telus on the radio. It is about a guy picking out a gift for a friend, he picks a tray of nuts and then ads "I hope he's not allergic" then sort of an unspoken shrug "Oh well" (as in I'll give it anyway)
Then girl pipes in "Chances are he is allergic.....to bad gifts"
I'm not really sure what to think of this ad.....anyone else heard it?
That lottery one is terrible. I have seen so many references to allergies lately which should seem good, but they are all this sort. Like the Desperate Housewives Carlos allergy to eggs really was bad too.
Ugggghhhhh!

Complain to Senator Kennedy. He co-sponsored the Food Allergen Labeling Act. He has a nephew who is PA.
I wonder if they would make fun of someone in a wheelchair.

Mr. Cahill
I was listening to the radio the other day and heard a commercial for the Massachusetts State Lottery. I would like to quickly paraphrase the commercial:
How fun is playing the Massachusetts State Lottery? More fun than a date. (Cut to sounds of dining room)
[i]He: How is your cashew chicken?
She: This has nuts in it?...(starting to struggle to breathe)

Personally, this one doesn't really offend me, but I understand other's may not feel the same way. (Remember, I still laugh thinking of Will Smith when I give my son a drinking box.)
My husband on the other hand got quite upset about the teuls commercial. I think it was because he was all *allergied out* after dealing with Christmas. And, when the commercial first started he thought it was a legitimate commercial about allergies and was quite disappointed (angry?) to find they were just selling something.
Doesn't make anyone in my family run out to buy their phone.
