Jif Almond and cashew butter? Have not heard back from Jif yet. The ingredient list does not contain peanuts and I have read some reviews from people who are allergic to peanuts say they eat it without problems. I want to make sure of no cross contamination. Has anyone heard about it being a safe alternative to peanut butter. We use to use Blue Diamond all the time.

I was excited when I saw the creamier looking jif almond butter on the shelf for my peanut allergic kid. We had been using Justin's or Maranatha for years without issue. but they tend to separate a lot and get dry. We went through one jar of jif almond butter without any problems. The first sandwich I made him out of the next jar caused an immediate reaction-throat scratching and burning. We administered benadryl and he vomited it all up. Did not need to use the epipen. I suspect that there is cross contamination in Jif's product and there are trace amounts of peanuts and other nuts, possibly peanut. I also noticed on the label this time it says it contains cashews. I'm not sure if it's because they're processing on the same line as their new cashew butter or they are tweaking formula. Either way, recommend avoiding it.
