Can anyone provide a safe brand of yogurt that is peanut/nut/sesame free?

On May 24, 2003

We use yo baby with no problems but this is the ONLY product that I have not called about. I have never seen any of their yogurts with a peanut or nut flavor so I feel secure useing it. I would suggest checking though. I will also put it on my list to check next week.

WE use Stonyfield...(they also make YoBaby). My PA son eats it everyday w/o any problems. I have never called since he had always eaten it.

We use Yoplait for my PA son. He eats the "toddler"/kid friendly pack of six. Yoplait is part of General Mills.

Thanks for the response.

Any close enough at hand with a 1-800 # so that I can call and confirm that they are indeed sesame free as well?

Dannon Light n' Fit White Chocolate Raspberry Yogurt just caused a reaction in my 2yr old PA son. We just learned he is PA 1 week ago and the reaction was mild but I am assuming there must be peanuts in the natural flavor until I call - anyone else had a problem?

DD eats a go-gurt or Yoplait yogurt everyday, all flavors with no trouble.

I called Dannon about a year ago, perhaps before that flavor came out...they assured me that there were no nuts or peanuts there at all. My son is sesame allergic too, altho I didn't know that at the time I called. He only eats vanilla yogurt and apple cinnamon. Has never had a reaction to Dannon. But also has lost his taste for it over this past year.

I called Yoplait last year and was assured no peanuts/nuts...my son doesn't like yoplait...

Stonyfield yo baby and regular yogurt 800 776 2697. I called but they are closed for Memorial Day. Please let us know what they say when you call. I will too.

We went to the Stonyfield farm factory this past summer, had a tour, and spoke to them. Their products are fine.

Go-gurts, Dannon coffee and vanilla, Lucerne and Tilamook. DS eats yogurt almost every day, and we've never had a reaction to any of these. Kristi

I called Dannon this morning and got the obvious scripted response that none of their products contain nuts or peanuts and they screen suppliers to make sure appropriate precautions are taken with allergenic substances...I asked for specific information regarding the presence of peanuts or possibly strawberries (ds not allergic that we know but this is the only other thing I can think of and it's much more likely to be in yogurt than peanuts) in the 'natural flavors'. I was told it will take 6-8 weeks to find out!!! Any other suggestions? Thanks, Michelle

SILK soy yogurts are delicious and are nut/sesame free! YUMMY!

We always buy Cabot yogurt. Never had a problem with it, I'm not aware of any of their yogurts with sesame seeds, I don't think so. Tamie

Dannon called back this afternoon and again said 'no peanuts' and that fruit molecules are the same across many fruits, just present in different levels so if we feel we have a fruit allergy to avoid all fruit products until speaking with our dr. I asked if they purchase the flavoring from another company - they do - and questioned the possibility of cross contamination at this location. He could not provide an answer of course...

I used to work in the food and beverage industry. Most of these companies purchase their flavorings from flavor houses who do nothing but develop flavors for other companies. I am concerned the chocolate flavor may have been contaminated at the flavor house which surely produces nut flavors for other companies even if Dannon does not purchase any nut flavors. I have a couple of old co-workers who know more about these flavor houses so I am going to look into it.

Anyhow, we go to the allergist on June 6 and I will let you know then whether ds is allergic to any other possible ingredients in the yogurt or if it was likely nuts.

We have used yoplait (yumsters for the kids) and dannon (only fruit flavors for the kids). I do always use dannon when I need plain yogurt as that is the only brand at the store. I hope they're still safe because I use them as a cream cheese substitute since we won't use philly.

Anderson Erickson Dairy distributes in Iowa, Nebraska and western Illinois...their quality manager told me two years ago that their production facility is peanut free.

But, a followup should be made to check again.

OK - we went to the allergist and ds who had rxn to dannon white choc rasp yogurt has no other food allergies besides peanut. They did not have a scratch test for rasp tho' so they are doing the rast but since he has had raspberry since without problem I still feel there must have somehow been peanut contamination of the yogurt. Can't ever be sure of course...so we'll just play it safe and avoid that flavor. He's eaten dannon la creme without issue since then.

tjsmom, just wanted to let you know that my allergist warned me that some dannon yogurts and other food products use carmine for red coloring , its actually ground beetles or something and some kids have had severe reactions to it. I do know it is in strawberry la creme.

OMG ground beetles?? Isn't there an option that isn't bugs??
