Question for Anyone out there dealing with dairy allergy also:

Do you have a substitute for cream of mushroom soup?

We were dairy free but never subbed for that. Now I have a friend new to this and she cooks very little and most of the recipes she has use cream of Mush soup she said.

She is totally overwhelmed. Her son is a special needs child and is in 3rd grade. They just found out a few days ago. Similar to my DD's allergies. Lots of them!! To make it worse, they had a b-day party planned today: Main course, Pizza with chocolate cake and ice cream. Which he can't have any of. She is sad.

It's so overwhelming. For all of you newbies reading this: hang in there, it gets easier and less overwhelming. But your life will always be different. (not necessarily bad.)

I deal with dairy and egg also and have not found a sub for cream of mushroom soup but sure would like to find one. I used it alot with older 2 ds before we found about ds #3 allergies. Unfortunately alot of the "quick foods" involve dairy. We do alot of pasta with cheese-free sauce and rice. For main dishes, I do breaded meats with seasoned bread crumbs and use soy milk to dip the meat in prior to breading.
I guess this is not much help. I can sure sympathize as I miss being able to throw a couple chicken breasts topped with cream of mushroom soup in the oven and have about 30 seconds of prep time for a main dish.

I did a search and typed in "dairy free mushroom soup" and came up with this. Looks pretty good. Tell your friend there are tons of recipes to be found on the web that are dietary specific. You will have to copy and paste it into your search engine. For some reason I can't get it to link.
